MINIMUM CONTINUING REQUIREMENTS TO MAINTAIN MEMBERSHIP

Keep those grades up! Maintain A/B honor roll status for each reporting period. We don't want anyone's academic work to suffer.
Be a model student. Any major disciplinary step (ISS, OSS, for example) means automatic dismissal. Uphold the club's core principles.
Perform 12 hours of community service in 12 months ("12 in 12"). Must have at least two by the end of the first semester. Summer is a great service time! Go HERE for service Q&A, and HERE to report hours and check your current total. Don't forget the password (it was provided in the organizational meeting).
Attend our full club meetings. No more than one excused absence is allowed in a semester. We meet every 3-4 weeks (see schedule HERE)

Club committees

About 35 members meet outside the full-club setting to plan for events, develop service opportunities, and set up marketing and advertising strategies. These are divided between 7th and 8th graders. These groups meet before school, mostly on Mondays but sometimes on other days as needed. Most meetings take place in the fall. Members earn .5 service hours for each meeting attended, up to 5 total service hours.

We will meet at a date to be determined early in August to start the process!

You are expected to an active, engaged participant.
You are expected to be communicating with other club members.
You are expected to communicate with staff, administration, and/or outside vendors or sponsors.
You are expected to organize - and have fun doing it!

Effective for 2020-21, here are the responsibilities for officers and the committees they will chair.

President:
This officer leads the club and sets the tone and agenda for all members for the coming year. The president should offer a strong vision for the club and provide encouragement for all members to contribute to the club-sponsored events and in community service. The president will preside over the full club meetings and will chair the Events Planning Committee, which will include all advanced planning and organization for the Harris Road Harvest, 5K, and State Convention. Committee will have many members, with attention divided between Events and the State Convention.

Vice President:
Working in conjunction with the president, the vice-president will support and project that same vision for the club and will assist in presiding over the full club meetings. Additionally, the vice-president will co-chair the Events Planning Committee.   Committee will feature ten members. The VEEP will also be responsible for setting the agenda for club meetings.

Reporter:
This officer will chair the Advertising and Marketing Committee and will make sure that the club's major events, fundraising drives, and other special efforts will receive strong advance notice both within school and throughout the community. The secretary will, along with the advertising committee, be responsible for communicating to the club through hrmsbeta.org and through social media, especially Twitter (@hrmsbetaclub). Additionally, this committee will work hard to find sponsors and vendors who will support our efforts throughout the year. Therefore, this committee will work IN ADVANCE of the club's efforts. Committee will have six to eight members.

Secretary:
This officer will oversee the  Service Committee, with the primary responsibilities being to seek the help of the full club for its many contacts through family and friends to build the club's imprint in the community. Additionally, the team will work with organizations in the community to arrange service opportunities. Committee will have about 10 members.

Here's how to join:

Respond to the form below by Friday, June 5, 2020. You will hear back by Monday, June 8. While you may state your committee preference, there are no guarantees of placement. We assume that if you are applying, you will work well on ANY committee.
